About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead early review of potential renewable tax credit transactions and assess underwriting packages.
  • Collaborate with project developers to gather information and documentation.
  • Oversee production and evaluation of diligence memorandums for clean energy tax credits, ensuring compliance with regulations like prevailing wage & apprenticeship requirements.
  • Maintain expertise in transaction structuring, clean energy tax credit rules, and regulations.
  • Formulate underwriting policies by credit type.
  • Build and scale a high-performing team of underwriting principals and senior managers.
  • Mentor junior talent and foster excellence.
  • Develop initiatives to improve underwriting processes using technology, collaborating with product engineering, legal, and marketing.
  • Analyze financial, technical, and legal documents for credit eligibility.
  • Review tax credit insurance policies and conduct risk assessments.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for credit approvals.
  • Build long-term client relationships with F250 tax credit buyers.
  • Develop new relationships through conferences, networking, and partnerships.
  • Act as market expert via webinars and panels.

Requirements

  • 14+ years in financial services, renewable energy, or comparable.
  • Renewable energy project finance, banking, or Big 4 background preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Inflation Reduction Act, IRS tax codes, renewable energy, underwriting, and risk management.
  • Detailed knowledge of renewable energy project underwriting, equipment/performance review, U.S. energy markets, regulatory structures, power agreements, derivatives, and incentives.
  • Analytical skills to distill complex issues.
  • Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, communication, and project management skills.
  • Team-oriented with collaboration across groups.
  • Relationship building skills.
  • Thrives in rapid-growth environment with autonomy.
  • Willing to travel 25%.
  • FINRA SIE, Series 79, and 63 required or willingness to obtain.

Compensation

  • Total cash: $500,000s - $700,000s (depending on experience & revenue scope), excluding equity.
  • Opportunity to exceed bonus targets.
