Lead Data Engineer
Leads design and implementation of scalable data pipelines using dbt, Airflow, and SQL. Mentors data engineers, optimizes AWS infrastructure with Terraform, and builds integrations with MySQL/SQL Server/OLAP for analytics. Requires strong SQL/Python and production pipeline expertise.
What You'll Do
- Mentored fellow data engineers through code reviews, architectural decisions, and technical planning sessions
- Led the design and implementation of scalable, secure data pipelines using dbt, Apache Airflow, and SQL
- Collaborated with Product Managers to launch new customer-facing analytics capabilities
- Partnered with DevOps to optimize cloud infrastructure with Terraform and AWS-managed services
- Built and maintained integrations with MySQL, SQL Server, and OLAP systems to support product insights and internal operations
- Participated in our on-call rotation to ensure platform reliability and performance
- Contributed to the hiring, onboarding, and professional development of the Data Engineering team
- Explored and evaluated new tools—including AI-assisted coding platforms like Claude and Windsurf—to improve engineering workflows
What You'll Need
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
- Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure and data services
- Familiarity with MySQL, SQL Server, and OLAP databases
- Experience using Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools
- Expertise in modern data tooling, particularly dbt and Apache Airflow
- Operating reliable and performant pipelines in production environments
- Building data platforms that support both internal stakeholders and external customers
Compensation
Target base annual salary range of $170,000 - $210,000, plus bonus opportunity, company stock options, and a full benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and a 401k.
