Frontend Engineer
Own frontend infrastructure, tooling, and component system for a React/TypeScript product used by companies like Canva and Etsy. Set performance and quality standards while collaborating with designers and PMs. 2+ years building production web apps required.
Responsibilities
- Own frontend infrastructure & deployment: Build and maintain the tooling our frontend runs on (bundling, linting, type-checking, testing setup, and CI/CD). Own the frontend developer experience end to end.
- Build and evolve our component system: Design and maintain our design system and component library, ensuring clean component APIs, theming, accessibility, and documentation. Drive adoption so teams build on consistent, high-quality building blocks.
- Champion frontend performance & best practices: Set and uphold patterns for performance, code quality, and architecture. Profile and optimize bundle size, load, and render performance. Raise the bar through code review and mentorship.
- Collaborate with designers, engineers, and PMs on features: Help audit, design, and build foundational UI and UX across the product, with an emphasis on polished, performant interfaces, prototyping interactions, and data visualization.
- Interact with end users: Jump in on customer feedback and talk with users to understand how they use the product and what's getting in their way.
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience building production web applications with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web frameworks such as React.
- Curious and informed about web trends and UI/UX innovations.
- Familiar with web accessibility standards and resolving common accessibility issues.
- Keen skills in interaction design, grid layout, button and form states, typography, navigation, and consistency.
- Good communicator excited to educate and mentor others on best practices; able to write clearly and provide critical feedback on code.
- Curious about user needs and excited to develop opinions about product direction and business impact.
