Forward Deployed Engineer
Forward Deployed Engineer collaborates with external partners to integrate and extend data platform for brain EEG data, designs customer solutions, leads technical integrations, and improves internal tools for troubleshooting. Requires 8+ years data engineering experience and strong customer-facing skills.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with external partners and customers to understand their data needs, analytical workflows, and technical constraints, and translate those into concrete solutions built on Beacon’s Datastore.
- Lead technical conversations with partner engineers and data teams, supporting API integrations, successful adoption of data access patterns and practices, and downstream analytics.
- Design and implement solutions for customers, sometimes on the Beacon platform and sometimes on the customer’s platform, to kickstart and expedite integration and provide examples that showcase and validate Beacon’s data.
- Collaborate with the Datastore team to develop internal tools, queries, and workflows that improve observability, troubleshooting, and resolution of client data issues.
- Leverage feedback from partners and internal stakeholders to improve documentation, APIs, data models, and operational processes.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or backend software engineering roles with significant exposure to data platforms.
- 3+ years in a customer-facing role, developing and managing customer relationships.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, with hands-on experience designing and maintaining analytical or operational data models.
- Experience working directly with customers or external stakeholders to solve data-related problems, including requirements gathering, solution design, and delivery.
- Comfort operating across the stack—from querying and modeling data to writing application or integration code as needed.
- Experience in a data-oriented programming language such as Python, Julia, or R.
- Familiarity with APIs and data integration patterns (GraphQL or REST, batch exports and ELT/ETL, event sourcing).
- Experience with modern analytics and BI tools such as Snowflake, Superset, Looker, or similar platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative, customer-oriented mindset.
Compensation
Salary range: $170,000 – $190,000. Base salary is one component of total compensation, which includes equity, PTO, and other benefits.
Forward Deployed Engineer (Integrations)
Own technical integration delivery for priority customers, writing TypeScript/Node.js code to build and debug integrations with payments systems, cloud platforms, and third-party APIs. Requires 3+ years experience and strong customer-facing technical ownership.
Forward Deployed Engineer
Partner with banking customers to architect and deploy AI-native software solutions, owning end-to-end technical projects from design to production. Requires 1-6+ years of software engineering experience and strong communication skills.
