Senior Backend Engineer, Platform Readiness

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Platform Readiness agentic workflows on the Duo Agent Platform, including the Core Agentic Workflow and Requirements Agent.
• Evolve the platform requirements knowledge base through schema design, validation tooling, and CI systems.
• Build integrations for issues, merge requests, design documents, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Partner with Infrastructure, Security, and Data teams to translate expertise into structured platform requirements, domain skills, and validation logic.
• Design quality-control feedback loops that surface assessment errors, missed gaps, and content drift.
• Measure and improve assessment accuracy and guidance relevance.
• Mentor engineers on agentic-workflow standards, prompt discipline, evaluation methodology, and human-AI collaboration.
• Contribute to technical documentation and architectural decision records.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2+ years in backend, platform, or developer-facing tooling.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript/Node, Python, or Golang; Ruby is a plus.
• Experience shipping developer-facing tooling for engineering users.
• Understanding of GitLab-style workflows, including issues, epics, merge requests, CI/CD, and code review.
• Ability to work cross-functionally across multiple platform teams.
• Experience with structured content systems, schemas, or validation tooling.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with AI or agentic systems such as DAP, ADK, or LangGraph, or the ability to reason rigorously about AI and human decision boundaries.
• Experience integrating LLM APIs and evaluating cost, latency, and failure modes.
• Developer experience or platform engineering background.
• Experience with governance patterns for shared standards and cross-organizational decision-making.
• Open-source contributions in platform, developer experience, or AI infrastructure.
• PostgreSQL or other relational database experience at scale.
• Production experience shipping agentic workflows and handling their operational complexity.
• Experience designing schema-driven content systems with non-engineer authors.
• Experience building developer platform teams at scale.
• Observability and monitoring experience for AI systems, including evaluation metrics, cost tracking, and failure analysis.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
