Responsibilities
- Drive design decisions with product, engineering, reliability, and systems engineering teams.
- Lead post-launch sustaining activities and continuous improvement projects through production and field operations.
- Derive technical architecture and engineering specifications from product requirements.
- Use analysis to support engineering designs.
- Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing teams to evaluate production partners.
- Prototype experimental mock-ups and create detailed mechanical models.
- Research technologies and scope development opportunities.
- Develop CAD databases and drawing packages, and hand off designs to manufacturers.
- Support product builds and testing; travel to manufacturing partners as required.
- Perform failure analysis, root-cause investigation, solution validation, and field-failure evaluation.
- Lead large projects from concept through execution and communicate effectively across cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of related industry experience.
- Experience leading development of a feature or module for a consumer product.
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, including solid mechanics, electromagnetics, thermodynamics, engineering materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with tolerance analysis and design-for-manufacturing challenges involving external vendors.
- Proactive problem-solving experience, including failure analysis, root-cause investigation, and design of experiments.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD, basic GD&T, and releasing 2D drawings.
- Working knowledge of finite element analysis principles.
- Track record of shipping products and collaborating cross-functionally.

- Expected base pay range: CAD $88,000–$110,000.
