Senior Supplier Quality Engineer - Manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Own supplier quality performance for assigned suppliers and commodities.
  • Establish supplier quality requirements, specifications, quality agreements, KPIs, scorecards, metrics, risk plans, and supplier performance improvement programs.
  • Support supplier qualification and selection through quality assessments, process audits, capability evaluations, and manufacturing-process reviews.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and suppliers during new product introduction (NPI).
  • Review drawings, specifications, GD&T, CTQs, PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, MSA, SPC, and inspection plans.
  • Drive DFM/DFA/DFR reviews, process validation, FAI/FAIR and PPAP approval, and production ramp readiness.
  • Establish risk-based inspection and testing requirements and implement SPC, mistake-proofing, standardized work, and process controls.
  • Lead supplier nonconformance investigations, containment, root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive action, and effectiveness verification using 8D, CAPA, and RCCA.
  • Plan and execute risk-based supplier process, product, system, and special-process audits; oversee corrective-action plans and closure.
  • Track incoming defect rates/PPM, NCR rates, FPY, CAPA closure, Cp/Cpk, COPQ, escape rates, and audit performance.
  • Partner with Receiving, Incoming Inspection, and Manufacturing Quality to resolve supplier defects and reduce incoming inspection burdens.
  • Review and approve supplier changes involving processes, materials, equipment, tooling, locations, and sub-tier suppliers.
  • Lead Lean Six Sigma supplier quality improvement projects to reduce defects, scrap, rework, and supplier-related COPQ.
  • Travel to supplier facilities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, Quality Engineering, or a related field, including direct work with manufacturing suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Strong knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, 8D/RCCA, CAPA, and process audits.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, technical specifications, and inspection requirements.
  • Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills for evaluating process capability, statistical data, and manufacturing defects.
  • Ability to collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Operations, and external suppliers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to supplier facilities.
  • Ability to meet safety-sensitive facility requirements, including company safety, background check, drug, and alcohol programs.

Nice-to-Haves

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP), or similar certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with PPAP/APQP and automotive or aerospace quality methodologies.
  • Experience with welding, machining, fabrication, casting, forging, sheet metal, coating, or electrical assembly.
  • Experience with ERP/QMS platforms and supplier quality dashboards.
  • Experience scaling supplier quality in high-growth manufacturing, NPI/ramp environments, or strategic subcontractor programs.

  • Annual compensation of $100,000–$115,000 plus bonus.
