Conducts frontier AI research for health, developing and evaluating scalable training methods, models, and agents that improve medical reasoning, reliability, and real-world outcomes. Requires exceptional machine learning or biomedical AI research depth, hands-on coding and experimentation, and end-to-end ownership of ambiguous problems.

Responsibilities
- Own high-leverage health research directions end to end, from problem selection and measurement through experimentation and integration into frontier models.
- Develop scalable methods across pretraining, midtraining, reinforcement learning, and post-training to improve health reasoning, knowledge, reliability, calibration, and behavior.
- Build and study reinforcement-learning environments grounded in real health problems.
- Create meaningful, trustworthy, and unsaturated evaluations for patients and clinicians.
- Advance new health capabilities involving longitudinal and multimodal health data, useful predictions, scientific insights, and individual- and population-level decisions.
- Collaborate with researchers, engineers, clinicians, and product teams to deploy health capabilities.
- Establish whether AI improves real health outcomes.
Requirements
- Strong track record in machine learning or AI research, with depth in pretraining, reinforcement learning/post-training, evaluations, or frontier health/biomedical AI.
- Hands-on ability to design experiments, write and debug code, work with data and training infrastructure, and move quickly from ideas to evidence.
- Strong research judgment and ability to identify important, high-leverage problems.
- Ability to own ambiguous problems end to end and learn missing skills as needed.
- Focus on scalability, generalization, and real-world deployment.
- Commitment to improving human health and deploying AI safely.

Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range: $295,000–$555,000.
