Staff Software Engineer

Leads architectural direction, owns full-stack features from design through production, and mentors engineers while integrating AI capabilities into scalable customer-facing products. Requires 7+ years of full-stack development experience, strong AWS expertise, and React/Python or comparable-language proficiency.

Responsibilities

Integrate the latest AI models into customer-facing features and workflows at scale.
Drive architectural decisions and set technical direction across the team.
Solve complex problems and transform them into business solutions.
Own features end-to-end, from design through production.
Mentor engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.
Support the engineering manager on team-level technical decisions.
Work with Python, MySQL, React, AWS, Kubernetes, and related technologies.
Work in an agile environment focused on well-structured code, testing, and continuous integration.
Collaborate with Product Managers, UX Designers, and other development team members.
Assess the technical feasibility of product increments, suggest implementation options, and follow the development lifecycle through release.
Design and build tools and frameworks to automate development, testing, deployment, management, and monitoring of services and products.
Create reliable software and networking platforms and maintain well-organized code.
Plan and scale distributed software and applications using synchronous and asynchronous design patterns.
Track, document, and maintain software and network system functionality while improving engineering productivity.

Requirements

7+ years of experience in full-stack development, preferably with React and Python or a comparable language such as Java or Node.js, including developing, maintaining, and deploying software.
Proven track record of driving architectural decisions and technical direction.
Experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.
Ability to proactively identify problems in existing systems or products and propose solutions.
Solid knowledge of cloud computing, especially AWS.
Ability to understand a codebase and drive improvements, such as migrating to modern frameworks.
Experience working in an agile development environment, preferably at a startup or dynamic technology company.
Interest in AI technology and current trends and advancements is an advantage.
Strong English and Hungarian communication skills.
