About the role

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Trading Solutions team from product discovery through launch, providing strategic legal guidance and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct legal and regulatory research across crypto trading venues, prime brokers, custodians, and payment rails.
  • Structure, draft, and negotiate counterparty agreements, including electronic trading, derivatives, financing, digital asset trading, prime brokerage, collateral, margin, loan, settlement, ISDA, confirmation, disclosure, and risk-factor agreements.
  • Advise executive leadership on complex regulatory frameworks, reputational risks, and ongoing compliance obligations.
  • Work with the Associate General Counsel, business heads, Legal, and Compliance to grow the Trading Solutions business.
  • Develop and manage contract templates, policies, procedures, playbooks, guidelines, and staff training.
  • Lead medium-to-large projects and processes independently.
  • Communicate legal issues clearly to internal stakeholders and collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues and improve efficiency.
  • Work directly with clients and external counsel.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of transactional experience reviewing financial transaction agreements.
  • Experience with lending agreements, prime brokerage agreements, ISDA/CSA agreements, and trade confirmations.
  • Strong understanding of laws and regulations applicable to spot, margin, derivatives, platform trading, prime brokerage, and digital assets.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks for digital asset business models and ability to apply traditional financial legal concepts to digital assets.
  • Experience with crypto trading venues, prime brokers, custodians, and payment rails.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, communication, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume startup or early-stage environment.
  • Creative, commercially minded, pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Juris Doctor preferred.
