About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of Everlaw's technical AI strategy, including staying on the cutting edge of frontier models and participating in early access programs with major AI labs (Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).
  • Devise overall approach to using AI at trillion-token scale.
  • Guide the work of engineers across the company in using AI, providing feedback on design documents, code reviews, tech talks, or study groups on AI research papers.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, security engineers, data scientists, product leads, designers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Identify new AI opportunities applicable to Legal Tech and influence engineering and product direction.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in ML/AI and 10+ years overall in software engineering.
  • Led significant AI projects, including applied use of LLMs in production and experience with NLP/text analysis.
  • Programming skills in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python).
  • Constant learner staying abreast of latest AI developments.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, explaining technical concepts without jargon.

Pluses (Nice-to-Haves)

  • Experience with Retrieval-based LMs or hybrid approaches with RAG for large custom datasets.
  • Designed approaches for storage and representation of knowledge, familiar with vector and graph databases.
  • Explored multimodal approaches (image, audio, video processing).
  • Built agents with supervision, backtracking, exception handling, tool use, MCP, etc.
  • Previous experience with SaaS and distributed systems.
