About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of revenue accounting, including month-end close, analysis and reporting, controls considerations and technical accounting under ASC 606
  • Oversee contract review for revenue recognition implications
  • Lead and mentor a team of two revenue accountants, providing coaching and professional development
  • Partner with Strategic Finance, Legal, Commercial, and Operations to support accurate forecasting, reporting, and compliance
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, systems, and controls to support scale and operational excellence
  • Support external audits and reviews
  • Assist the Accounting team as needed with ad hoc tasks and projects

90 Day Plan

  • Become a subject matter expert in Virta’s business model, revenue streams, and contracts
  • Develop strong working relationships with key cross-functional stakeholders (Strategic Finance, Legal, Commercial, Operations)
  • Assess current systems and processes and propose improvements for scalability and accuracy
  • Take ownership of the revenue reporting process and implement improvements on revenue reporting

Must-Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • CPA with strong technical knowledge of ASC 606
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in public accounting and industry, with at least 3+ years focused on revenue accounting
  • Experience in a fast-paced, public company environment
  • 3+ years in a leadership role managing teams and developing talent
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable processes and controls
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally
  • Comfortable working in a fully remote setting
