Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure
Own foundational cloud infrastructure and the internal developer platform supporting Commure’s engineering teams. The role requires 6+ years of infrastructure, platform, or SRE experience and hands-on expertise across Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, GitOps, observability, and cloud environments.

Responsibilities
- Build and operate the internal developer platform, including golden-path templates, self-service tooling, local development environments, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Own cloud infrastructure across GCP, AWS, and/or Azure using Terraform and controller-based provisioning with Kubernetes operators and Crossplane.
- Manage Kubernetes clusters, including lifecycle, upgrades, autoscaling, node management, and multi-cluster patterns.
- Define application packaging and deployment patterns with Helm.
- Design traffic and networking layers, including service mesh, ingress, mTLS, routing, rate limiting, canary releases, circuit breaking, and RPC traffic management.
- Own GitOps release and deployment workflows with Argo CD, including progressive delivery, rollback safety, and environment promotion.
- Operate observability systems covering OpenTelemetry instrumentation, Prometheus metrics, Grafana dashboards, distributed tracing, logging, and unified alerting.
- Build zero-trust access for internal and external systems, including VPN, BeyondCorp, short-lived credentials, and on-premises connectivity.
- Partner with Security on secrets management, policy-as-code, and secure-by-default patterns supporting HIPAA and SOC 2 requirements.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience in infrastructure, platform, or site reliability engineering roles.
- Experience building internal developer platforms with a product mindset.
- Experience with public cloud platforms and managed cloud services.
- Experience with on-premises or hybrid environments and data center or cloud migrations.
- Experience with cloud-native technologies.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, including Terraform or Pulumi.
- Experience with controller-based infrastructure management, such as Crossplane or Kubernetes operators.
- Experience with service mesh technologies and software-defined networking.
- Experience with modern GitOps release workflows and progressive delivery.
- Experience with observability platforms including Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
- Experience working in regulated industries with HIPAA and SOC 2 obligations.
