About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of software engineers, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, career development, and regular one-on-ones.
  • Own project delivery against quarterly plans and accountability for service reliability and performance, including uptime and latency targets.
  • Review technical designs and code and provide architecture-focused feedback.
  • Drive resolution of incidents, bugs, technical debt, and post-mortems within SLA and metric targets.
  • Partner with product and business stakeholders on planning and maintain a prioritized project backlog.
  • Communicate engineering vision, strategy, team progress, and business impact.
  • Ensure engineering development processes are implemented and consistently followed.
  • Delegate effectively and build team autonomy and a positive, high-trust culture.
  • Address performance issues and conflict promptly and fairly.
  • Establish effective use of AI tooling, including IDE assistants, coding agents, and conversational AI, across software development and SDLC artifacts.

Requirements

  • Experience managing and growing a software engineering team, including hiring, coaching, and full performance and career-development cycles.
  • Strong technical foundation with the ability to review designs and code and make architectural trade-offs in distributed, cloud-based systems.
  • Track record of delivering complex projects on schedule while maintaining quality, reliability, and performance standards.
  • Experience owning production services and driving operational health through incident response, on-call practices, technical-debt reduction, and SLA achievement.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize with product partners and drive strong sprint and quarterly completion rates.
  • Clear and effective communication with teams, adjacent teams, and stakeholders.
  • Fluency with AI code assistants, coding agents, and conversational AI such as Claude and ChatGPT.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience building or operating metadata, catalog, lineage, or discovery/search systems.
  • Experience with GraphQL APIs and high-throughput, multi-tenant data services.
  • Familiarity with analytics engineering workflows and the dbt ecosystem.
  • Experience supporting enterprise or single-tenant customers with strict reliability and latency requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Denver pay range: $186,701–$233,376 USD.
