Senior Software Engineer - Defense Simulation

Responsibilities

• Develop integrated live, virtual, and constructive simulation solutions for experimentation, testing, and training of multi-agent autonomy software.
• Design and document LVC architectures and simulation scenarios.
• Write interface code, conduct code reviews, and resolve integration roadblocks.
• Translate requirements into technical solutions while mentoring junior engineers and providing technical leadership.
• Research and learn modeling, simulation, and communication tools, including prototype software.
• Work with third-party vendors to incorporate proprietary models while respecting intellectual property boundaries.
• Write, modify, test, and debug efficient code in C++ 2017+, Python 3.10+, and other languages as needed.
• Design robust LVC integrations meeting performance, scalability, and security requirements.
• Contribute to continuous innovation, testing, debugging, documentation, CI/CD pipelines, and security compliance.
• Travel between company offices and customer sites approximately 25% of the time.

Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent experience in modeling and simulation, computer science, or software engineering.
• Experience using simulation interoperability standards including DIS, HLA, and DSEEP, along with custom methods and technologies, to build LVC federations.
• Knowledge of communication protocols and serialization mechanisms such as DDS, ZeroMQ, Kafka, Redis, and protobuf.
• Experience configuring, integrating, extending, and using defense modeling and simulation tools such as AFSIM, NGTS, and flight simulators.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience developing performant modern C++ (2017+).
• Experience with Docker and containerized development environments.
• Experience working with Linux-based operating systems such as RHEL and Ubuntu.
• Experience with Git, Visual Studio Code, GitLab, SonarQube, and Artifactory or Azure Container Registry.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must hold or be eligible for a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice to Have

• PhD in a related engineering field.
• 7+ years of software development experience across multiple programming languages.
• Experience with government interoperability architectures such as OMS/UCI.
• Experience with model-based systems engineering artifacts, hardware-in-the-loop testing environments, and multi-level security environments.
• Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
• Experience with flight test readiness and airworthiness processes.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary range: $140,000–$180,000.
• Eligible compensation may also include equity in the form of options or restricted stock units.
