- Drive high-impact projects and innovate solutions to provide the best customer experiences.
- Lead backend and cross-functional projects to achieve long-term goals and deliver short-term roadmaps.
- Lead large features from idea through successful execution and launch.
- Own systems and components, remaining accountable for short-term functionality and long-term health.
- Participate in code and architecture reviews to ensure quality and distribute knowledge.
- Manage on-call rotations and proactively improve processes.
- Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, and maintainable code.
- Share knowledge through brown bags and tech talks, mentor others, and promote appropriate engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent, in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or relevant work experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering or production infrastructure industry experience.
- Experience designing, debugging, and operating fault-tolerant, highly available, large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with relational or NoSQL databases.
- Experience leading components or systems from design through launch.
Nice to Have
- Proficiency with Go.
- Proficiency with Python.
Compensation and Benefits
- Expected base pay range in the Toronto area: CAD $136,000–$170,000, excluding potential equity, bonus, and benefits.
