About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and grow a team focused on developer experience, developer productivity, and internal engineering platforms.
  • Define and execute a developer experience strategy that improves how engineers build, test, deploy, and operate software.
  • Identify friction across local setup, CI/CD, testing, release management, observability, incident response, and production operations.
  • Create and evolve golden paths that improve speed, quality, consistency, security, and reliability.
  • Own and improve build pipelines, automated testing infrastructure, service scaffolding, shared tooling, documentation, and internal platforms.
  • Drive AI-assisted development, automation, code review improvements, intelligent tooling, and self-service capabilities.
  • Use quantitative and qualitative data to prioritize investments and measure developer productivity, satisfaction, cycle time, deployment frequency, change failure rate, and operational burden.
  • Partner with platform, infrastructure, security, SRE, product engineering, architecture, and data teams.
  • Establish a culture of customer empathy, operational excellence, pragmatic execution, high-quality technical decisions, and continuous improvement.
  • Represent developer experience priorities in engineering planning and cross-functional decisions.

Requirements

  • Experience managing and growing high-performing engineering teams, ideally in platform engineering, developer experience, developer productivity, infrastructure, SRE, build systems, tooling, or related domains.
  • Strong technical background building or operating scalable software systems, internal platforms, CI/CD systems, developer tooling, cloud infrastructure, or service-oriented architectures.
  • Product-minded approach to internal tools and the ability to prioritize high-impact problems.
  • Experience improving build, test, and release pipelines, service templates, local development environments, observability, incident response, or operational tooling.
  • Ability to balance long-term platform strategy with near-term execution and measurable impact.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Data-informed approach to engineering productivity, delivery metrics, reliability metrics, and qualitative feedback.
  • Practical judgment around AI-assisted developer workflows, automation, and emerging tools.
  • Leadership grounded in clarity, trust, accountability, coaching, and continuous improvement.

Nice to Have

  • Experience leading internal developer platforms, paved roads, or golden-path architectures.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, cloud platforms, CI/CD systems, observability platforms, infrastructure as code, service catalogs, or developer portals.
  • Experience introducing AI-powered tools or agentic workflows into engineering organizations.
  • Familiarity with DORA and SPACE metrics.

Work Arrangement

  • Full-time role available remotely within the United States or from a US office.
