New Product Introduction Sourcing Manager, Data Center Power & Cooling

Responsibilities

• Own NPI programs for new power and cooling products from concept selection through production ramp, including gate schedules, exit criteria, and risk registers.
• Engage suppliers early to translate site requirements into manufacturable product specifications and negotiate engineering trade-offs.
• Lead DFM, DFT, and DFx reviews to ensure designs are manufacturable, testable, and serviceable.
• Plan and run prototype and pilot builds, including EVT, DVT, and PVT scope, sample counts, build witnessing, and test plans.
• Execute type testing, HALT/HASS, thermal, EMC, protection coordination, functional, and integration testing; drive root-cause analysis and corrective action.
• Qualify products through first-article inspection, FAT, SAT, and integrated system testing, and sign off on production readiness.
• Transfer qualified products, control plans, test procedures, and known-issue lists to manufacturing quality and supply chain delivery teams.
• Define reliability targets and burn-in requirements, run FMEA/DFMEA, and feed field-failure data into product revisions.
• Coordinate with design engineering, construction, commissioning, utilities/interconnection, safety, and sourcing teams.
• Track supplier readiness and risk, escalate issues, and lead technical reviews.

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering experience in power electronics, electrical equipment, or industrial energy systems, including at least 4 years in NPI, product development, or product engineering from prototype through production ramp.
• Hands-on experience with at least two of: BESS, utility- or data-center-scale inverters, medium-voltage transformers or switchgear, UPS, STATCOM/power-quality equipment, or liquid-cooling systems.
• Working knowledge of applicable standards, including UL 9540/9540A, UL 1741, IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, IEC 62477, IEC 62909, IEEE C37/C57, NFPA 70/855, and UL 1778.
• Experience defining and executing EVT/DVT/PVT, FAT/SAT, type-testing, and reliability-testing programs, and closing failures through root-cause analysis and CAPA.
• Familiarity with supplier factories, production lines, test bays, and quality systems.
• Fluency in design-for-manufacturing, design-for-test, and supplier ECO/change-control processes.
• Strong systems thinking across inverters, batteries, transformers, and cooling loops.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to drive decisions across engineering, supply chain, and executive audiences.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or power engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Willingness to travel 30–40% to supplier factories and data center sites, including internationally.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with solid-state transformers, grid-forming inverters, E-STATCOM, or other emerging power-conversion equipment.
• NPI or product engineering experience at a hyperscaler, utility-scale developer, or Tier-1 power equipment OEM.
• Experience with grid interconnection studies, protection coordination, or power-system modeling using PSCAD, ETAP, PSS/E, or similar tools.
• Liquid-cooling product introduction experience, including CDUs, rear-door heat exchangers, direct-to-chip, or immersion systems.
• Reliability credentials such as CRE or Six Sigma, or experience running HALT/HASS programs.
• Firmware and controls validation experience for power-conversion equipment, including inverter controls, BMS, EMS, and PLC/SCADA integration.
• Experience scaling supplier manufacturing lines, contract manufacturing, and international sites.

Compensation

• Annual salary: $320,000–$405,000 USD.
