Staff Backend Engineer , AI Engineering: DAP Repository Flows

Responsibilities
- Set and drive the technical direction for the DAP Repository Flows team, making architecture decisions for onboarding and repository/background flows.
- Lead the design and delivery of autonomous and scheduled agents that operate on customer codebases using the Duo Agent Platform.
- Design and refine the DAP onboarding experience so customers can configure a project and become productive quickly.
- Partner across the DAP organization on interfaces, shared patterns, and platform capabilities.
- Mentor senior and intermediate engineers, review designs and code, and raise technical quality.
- Identify and resolve complex technical problems through sound design.
- Contribute to autonomy, ownership, high-context sharing, and async-first collaboration.
Requirements
- Deep, hands-on experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails in production systems.
- Experience integrating large language models into products; model training is not required.
- Experience building autonomous or semi-autonomous agentic systems that take actions on a user's behalf.
- Experience designing and shipping complex, high-scale systems and driving technical direction across teams.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a distributed, async-first environment.
- Staff-level judgment and influence, including setting direction, unblocking others, and multiplying team impact.
