Staff Analyst, Investor Analytics
Own the credit performance analytics and investor reporting strategy for Upstart’s HELOC portfolio. The role requires 5+ years in financial services credit analytics, strong Python and SQL skills, data pipeline expertise, and the ability to communicate portfolio risk to investors and executives.

Responsibilities
- Partner with Capital Markets and Lending Partnerships to engage institutional investors, communicate platform strength, and craft capital solutions for the HELOC program.
- Own the credit performance narrative for the HELOC portfolio, including arrears, roll rates, vintage and cohort loss curves, model calibration, and feature importance.
- Produce recurring yield, default, and prepayment reporting for capital partners and internal teams.
- Build financial models, data pipelines, and automated monitoring for credit reporting using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Codex.
- Collaborate with Machine Learning, Product, Engineering, and Finance on credit metrics, narratives, and financial forecasts.
- Mentor junior team members and elevate data, credit, and analytics practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in financial services, focused on credit and debt, including consumer or structured credit, private credit, structured products, securitization, or credit capital markets.
- Hands-on experience analyzing loan portfolio performance and credit risk.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience analyzing and explaining delinquency, arrears, roll rates, vintage loss curves, and model calibration.
- Experience with large datasets, data modeling, and robust data pipelines.
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Data Science, or another quantitative field.
Nice-to-haves
- Cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Product, Data Engineering, and Machine Learning teams.
- Executive-level storytelling and data visualization using Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
- HELOC, home equity, or mortgage credit experience, including collateral valuation, lien position, CLTV, and property-level risk drivers.
- Financial modeling involving lending cash flows, book-level profitability, or valuation; experience supporting pricing, structuring, or deal strategy.
- Familiarity with consumer credit capital markets, private credit, or structured products.
- Experience with Claude Code, Codex, or similar agentic coding tools.
- Ability to interpret and communicate model calibration, feature importance, score-to-outcome alignment, and population drift.
- Experience with Databricks, Redshift, dbt, and business intelligence tools.
Compensation
- Anticipated base salary: $140,300–$217,500 annually.
- The role is remote within the United States or Canada outside Quebec, with East/West Coast time-zone requirements and periodic in-person collaboration.
