About the role

Economic Development

  • Lead initiation, negotiation, and completion of state and local economic incentive agreements for new developments, including tax abatements, exemptions, and other incentives.
  • Manage full lifecycle from jurisdictional outreach through term sheet negotiation and agreement execution.
  • Collaborate with real estate, energy, tax, legal, and finance teams to structure deals aligning with growth objectives.

Community Benefit Agreement Development

  • Design and negotiate community benefit agreements (CBAs) reflecting pillars: Environmental Impact, Being a Good Neighbor, and Furthering Tech Innovation.
  • Translate pillars into locally relevant commitments.
  • Work with Real Estate, Energy, ESG/Community Impact, and local stakeholders to ensure agreements are enforceable and mutually beneficial.

Advocacy and Representation

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with local elected officials, public safety leaders, and government stakeholders.
  • Represent Crusoe in industry groups, working groups, and coalitions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Economic Development and Community Engagement.

Problem Solving and Issue Management

  • Address local issues impacting sites, including neighborhood complaints and good neighbor agreements.
  • Monitor legislative developments, conduct policy research, and support state and local advocacy.

Community Engagement

  • Support grassroots activities such as calls to action, site tours, and local activations.
  • Partner with ESG/Community Impact team to represent Crusoe at events.
  • Support groundbreakings, ribbon-cuttings, and other community events.

Strategic Insight and Trend Monitoring

  • Develop intelligence-gathering strategy to identify emerging trends and address potential business impacts.
  • Help shape advocacy priorities aligned with business objectives and values.

Administrative and Collaborative Support

  • Work proactively and independently to support cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain Crusoe's values-driven culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economic Development, Public Policy, Business, Political Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in economic development, government relations, or public affairs.
  • Direct experience structuring or negotiating tax incentive agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience with state and local economic incentive agreements, jurisdictional processes, and compliance.
  • Strong policy analysis, problem-solving, writing, editing, and research skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, manage multiple priorities, and assimilate new information quickly.
  • Excellent interpersonal, diplomacy, and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to discretion with confidential information.
  • Collaborative mindset; ability to work independently and engage cross-functional teams.
  • Availability to travel up to 25%.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with energy, tech (AI and data centers), or real estate issues.
  • Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) accreditation.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Compensation: $130,000-$155,000 + Bonus (plus RSUs).
