IP Counsel

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with product, engineering, research, and commercial teams on intellectual property issues, including copyright, rights of publicity, trademarks, and trade secrets.
• Counsel on IP risk in model development and outputs.
• Structure and negotiate licensing deals across platforms.
• Help build frameworks that protect and extend ElevenLabs' IP position as the company scales.
• Advise on copyright law, content licensing, and IP strategy for generative AI.

Requirements

• JD with active membership in at least one U.S. state bar or law degree and qualification to practice law in the U.K.
• 6+ years of experience advising on intellectual property issues, including copyright and/or trade secrets.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex IP-related transactions, including licensing agreements.
• Strong command of the IP issues unique to generative AI companies.
• Excellent business judgment, writing skills, and attention to detail.
• Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment.
• Curious about the future of AI and emerging technologies.
• Strong sense of ownership with enthusiasm for applying legal expertise in a cutting-edge, global company.
• Experienced in navigating fast-paced, high-growth environments, with the ability to manage ambiguity and make informed, timely decisions.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional and global colleagues, as well as working with outside counsel across jurisdictions.
• Proactive, business-minded, and committed to delivering practical solutions that support both compliance and company success.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with content distribution and licensing in the media, entertainment, music, or publishing industries.
• Experience managing IP risk in a software development environment.
