Build and enhance systems that flash and update software/firmware across Zoox vehicles, sensors, compute platforms, and ECUs. Requires 7+ years Python experience, embedded Linux knowledge, and strong hardware/software debugging skills.

Responsibilities
- Design and integrate deployment support for next-generation vehicle components and subsystems.
- Enhance the core deployment framework, developer tools, instrumentation, and integrations with broader engineering systems.
- Drive systemic improvements in deployment speed, efficiency, and mission-critical reliability.
- Triage, debug, and resolve complex deployment failures across hardware and software boundaries.
- Partner closely with Firmware, QA, Systems, Manufacturing, and Fleet Operations teams to ensure seamless end-to-end execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of professional experience developing clean, scalable code in Python.
- Strong working knowledge of Linux within embedded or constrained environments.
- Familiarity with CAN or other embedded/automotive communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet, LIN).
- Demonstrated excellence in hardware/software triage, debugging, and root-cause analysis.
Nice-to-Haves
- Proficiency in systems-level programming languages without automatic memory management (e.g., C or C++).
- Experience configuring or optimizing software build systems (e.g., Bazel, CMake).
- Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES) or end-of-line flashing environments.
