Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications & Thought Leadership

  • Develop and execute a holistic communications strategy that establishes the company as an industry leader and innovator in the tech space.
  • Oversee executive communications, including blogs, media interviews, events, and thought leadership content for key senior leaders.
  • Drive strategic content such as published papers, industry insights, and co-branded announcements to reinforce credibility and differentiation.
  • Partner with marketing, sales and product to develop and manage a content strategy for owned and earned channels to amplify key narratives.
  • Develop an ongoing stream of compelling stories that highlight our brand, our product value, and the people we serve.
  • Identify strategic opportunities and forge relationships with partners for co-authorship on key industry topics.

Media Relations & Public Relations

  • Oversee press and PR strategies, including product launches, industry recognition, and strategic partnerships.
  • Lead co-branded announcements with customers and partners, ensuring alignment and amplification of shared messages.
  • Shape our relationship with top-tier media, analysts, and influencers to shape public perception and drive positive coverage, supported by our comms agency.

Industry Influence & Brand Positioning

  • Lead industry recognition efforts, securing speaking opportunities, and high-profile engagements that elevate the company’s stature.
  • Identify and position ID.me for industry awards and ratings, both for b2b and b2c.
  • Oversee corporate participation in key industry events, conferences, and forums, positioning executives as thought leaders.
  • Oversee key channels and amplify strategic narratives.

Crisis & Reputation Management

  • Lead both defensive and proactive communication media strategies to safeguard the company’s reputation.
  • Drive all crisis response communication efforts and serve as the frontline leader in managing messaging, media relations, and sensitive matters, ensuring swift and strategic responses.
  • Manage the company’s presence on employer branding platforms (e.g., Glassdoor, LinkedIn) to ensure transparency and authenticity in external-facing messaging.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong storyteller.
  • 15+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or corporate affairs, with at least 6 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Deep experience working with B2B, B2C, and government stakeholders in the technology sector.
  • Proven success in crisis management, reputation defense, and high-stakes corporate storytelling.
  • Strong media and analyst relations experience, with a track record of securing high-impact coverage.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to influence C-level executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing internal communications to drive engagement and alignment.
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory and policy landscapes, particularly in tech-related industries.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual base salary range: $275,000–$350,000 (Mountain View, CA). Does not include company bonus, equity, or benefits.
