Software Engineer, iOS/Mobile - Electronic Flight Bag

Responsibilities
- Design and implement iOS features using Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, and modern iOS frameworks.
- Build and maintain high-performance mobile applications handling large real-time wind and weather datasets.
- Develop Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) features, including location services, map navigation, and aviation instrument displays.
- Integrate external hardware and edge devices for real-time data ingestion and application functionality.
- Architect offline-first experiences and graceful degradation for low- or no-connectivity environments.
- Implement background processing and long-running compute tasks with Swift Concurrency, async/await, and background task APIs.
- Apply data security practices including Keychain storage, encryption, and secure data handling.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to deliver reliable, precise mobile experiences.
- Participate in code reviews and follow iOS architectural and development best practices.
- Improve code quality, performance, and maintainability through testing and documentation.
Requirements
- 3+ years of iOS application development experience, or equivalent experience through internships, projects, or coursework.
- Experience with Swift and SwiftUI, with exposure to UIKit and common iOS frameworks.
- Familiarity with EFB applications, location services, or Mapbox or MapKit.
- Experience integrating external hardware or edge devices and managing real-time data pipelines.
- Ability to optimize application performance and handle large datasets.
- Experience building offline-first or connectivity-resilient applications, including local caching and synchronization.
- Familiarity with background processing and long-running task management using Swift Concurrency or background task frameworks.
- Understanding of iOS security practices, including Keychain, encrypted storage, and secure coding.
- Familiarity with asynchronous programming, including async/await, multithreading, or GCD.
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-haves
- iPad application development, including split view, multitasking, or large-screen layouts.
- Experience with safety-critical or mission-critical systems.
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows or cloud-backed mobile systems.
- Experience with real-time data, sensors, or hardware-adjacent systems.
- Passion for aviation and improving flight safety and efficiency.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary: $135,000–$260,000.
- 100% of employee medical premiums covered and 25% of dependent premiums covered.
- Three weeks of paid time off plus 13 or more company holidays.
