Software Engineer, Enterprise Expansion

Build scalable full-stack systems that help enterprise customers govern Retool across organizations, including administration, permissions, AI cost controls, and multi-instance management. The role requires 2–8 years of software engineering experience and strong backend, data modeling, and cross-functional delivery skills.

Responsibilities

Build and own systems and solutions that help enterprise customers organize, manage, secure, and scale Retool.
Develop full-stack web applications, data pipelines, backend systems, product infrastructure, and customer-facing administration tools.
Redesign administrator onboarding and management, including landing pages, global search, guided setup, security insights, and admin dashboards.
Build Projects as an organizational primitive with data models, membership, role-based permissions, and user interfaces.
Create AI cost visibility and governance capabilities, including telemetry pipelines, usage analytics, spend controls, and configurable limits.
Develop centralized controls for managing multiple Retool Spaces and instances and enforcing organization-wide policies.
Own technically challenging, cross-functional projects from design through delivery.
Contribute to design documents, code reviews, testing, and maintainable, reliable software.

Requirements

2–8 years of professional software engineering experience on high-impact teams.
Experience owning technically challenging, cross-functional projects from start to finish.
Strong full-stack fundamentals, including backend systems design, data modeling, and reliable, scalable software.
Clear communication in design documents, code reviews, and cross-functional discussions.
Commitment to code quality, testing, and improving existing codebases.
Motivation to solve real customer problems.

Nice to Have

Terraform or infrastructure-as-code experience.
Exposure to dbt, Databricks, or data pipeline tooling.
Familiarity with billing, cost controls, and usage analytics.
Experience with user- and role-based access controls.
Experience designing customer-facing UI/UX, platform management tools, and APIs.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: $163,800–$306,000 per year.
Equity and/or commission may be provided depending on the position.
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
Hybrid work location.
