Role Responsibilities
- Influence and deliver global indirect tax projects and process improvements that improve compliance readiness, data quality, and operating efficiency.
- Work with senior team members and cross-functional partners to gather requirements, track priorities, and support the delivery of tax-related initiatives.
- Support global indirect tax compliance governance by helping organize inputs, review workstreams, and contribute to timely and accurate execution.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate indirect tax processes, with a strong interest in AI-enabled and technology-driven improvements.
- Assist in evaluating the indirect tax impact of business changes, new products, system updates, and process changes, and help document conclusions and next steps.
- Contribute to indirect tax risk management by supporting broader analysis, governance, and control-related activities in partnership with key stakeholders.
- Prepare clear updates, presentations, and training materials to support project coordination, communicate indirect tax topics, and keep internal stakeholders informed on progress and process developments.
- Apply wide-ranging experience and regulatory concepts to solve complex compliance issues; escalate highly complex or systemic issues to leadership alongside innovative proposals for resolution.
Role Requirements
Must-Have Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in indirect tax, tax operations, tax compliance, or a related area.
- Strong understanding of global indirect tax concepts and the ability to apply them in a multi-country environment.
- Demonstrates a consistent focus on the long-term needs of the team and business. Understands how tax decisions will impact adjacent teams, sharing those impacts openly to co-create win-win solutions.
- Demonstrated project coordination skills, including the ability to organize work, manage deadlines, and support multiple stakeholders. Works proactively and transparently to help get team deliverables across the finish line.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency analyzing large, complex data sets.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and attention to detail, with the ability to work effectively across internal and external teams.
- Experience supporting tax process improvement, automation, and AI-enabled workflow design.
- Exposure to ERP systems, tax engines, or other finance and tax technology platforms.
- Experience supporting global indirect tax compliance, audits, reserves, or business transformation projects.
- Accounting knowledge, including journal entries and financial statement structure.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Ability to develop presentations, training content, or process documentation for cross-functional audiences.
- Familiarity with data reconciliation and controls in a multi-system environment.
- Advanced degree, CPA, or other relevant professional certification.
Compensation
For Portugal based hires: Estimated annual salary is between €50,000-68,000. The final offer will be inclusive of time exemption, in alignment with the applicable law and collective bargaining agreements.
This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare’s equity plan.
