Controller

Responsibilities

• Own the books end to end, including monthly close, revenue recognition, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll coordination, and financial statement integrity.
• Convert the company to full accrual accounting and implement GAAP revenue recognition for a transactional, multi-location, revenue-share business.
• Lead the migration from QuickBooks to a modern ERP, including selection, implementation, data migration, integrations, and change management.
• Rebuild the chart of accounts for location-level, team-level, and corporate reporting.
• Connect accounting systems with operational data systems and the data warehouse to establish a single source of truth and automate reconciliations.
• Own indirect tax and compliance across parking taxes, regulatory fees, and multi-jurisdiction sales and use taxes.
• Establish controls, documentation, and processes for the company’s first financial statement audit.
• Manage, mentor, and develop the in-house accounting team.
• Partner with Operations, Sales, and Product to ensure billing, collections, revenue sharing, and reporting are accurate at the source.
• Deliver timely monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for leadership, the board, and investors.

Requirements

• CPA or equivalent technical accounting rigor, with strong command of GAAP and revenue recognition for transactional or marketplace-style businesses.
• Experience as the senior-most accounting owner, such as Controller, Assistant Controller, or Director of Accounting, at a venture-backed company undergoing rapid growth.
• Experience leading an ERP migration from QuickBooks to a modern ERP.
• Experience converting cash-basis or hybrid books to full accrual accounting.
• Experience preparing for and completing financial statement audits, ideally a company’s first audit.
• Comfort working with data teams, data pipelines, and automated accounting processes.
• Hands-on experience designing close processes and resolving complex reconciliations.
• Experience with multi-location, multi-jurisdiction, revenue-share, or payments-heavy businesses.
• Pride in accounting quality, bias for action, and ability to balance speed with rigor.

Preferred Qualifications

• Big Four or top regional accounting firm experience combined with startup operating experience.
• Indirect tax, sales tax, or regulatory fee experience across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience with payment processors and marketplace money movement.
• Familiarity with modern accounting tools and automation.
