What you’ll own
The main job is capital allocation. You frame the big spend decisions (the next dollar of incentive, headcount, or product investment), build the business case, and bring a real point of view instead of a menu of options. You’ll do that by:
Marketplace dynamics & liquidity economics
- Build and maintain the economic model of the marketplace: take rate, fill rate, match rate, wallet share, ad spend (the north star), and how they move together.
- Diagnose liquidity health as a financial question, not just an ops one — where bids go unfilled, where supply sits idle, and what each is costing us.
- Translate flywheel mechanics into dollars: quantify how a change on one side of the market compounds through to Ad Spend and net revenue.
Incentive design & testing
- Partner closely with Eng, Product, and Data Science to own incentive design and its financial impact.
- Design creator- and brand-side incentive experiments end-to-end: hypothesis, financial model, success criteria, and the readout that decides whether it scales or dies.
- Own the economics of live experiments, including the counterfactual and the breakeven.
Pricing & packaging strategy
- Own pricing strategy across both sides of the marketplace, including take-rate structure, tiered pricing, creator earnings floors, and sensitivity modeling.
- Model the second-order effects: what a pricing move does to supply behavior, demand elasticity, and net revenue, not just the first-order rate change.
- Partner with Product Marketing on pricing and packaging.
Forecasting & long-range planning
- Build and own the long-range model and the bottoms-up projection blocks that leadership and the board run against.
- Drive scenario planning and the "what would have to be true" cases behind each major bet.
- Connect the forecast to operating reality: when actuals diverge, find the driver and feed it back into the model and the strategy.
What we’re looking for
- 6-10 years across banking, marketplaces, consumer, or high-growth companies where you've owned a number and felt the difference between a model that's right and a bet that worked.
- You think in unit economics and second-order effects, not just totals. You instinctively ask what a change does to the other side of the market.
- You've designed experiments, not just analyzed them after the fact. You know how to structure a test so the readout is decision-grade.
- You're a builder. You'd rather ship a rough model that changes a decision this week than a perfect one next month (speed > precision when it's a two-way door).
- You bring a point of view and can defend it with insight, then commit when the call goes the other way.
- You’re fluent in AI data tools to get your own answers instead of waiting in a queue.
