Hardware Integration Engineer

Integrates, deploys, tests, and maintains autonomous mining and construction vehicle systems at customer sites. The role requires a bachelor’s degree, 5+ years of relevant technical experience, and hands-on expertise across vehicle hardware, sensors, manufacturing, diagnostics, and repair.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the autonomous mining system by developing deep familiarity with all aspects of the system.
  • Deploy integrated autonomous systems onto mining and construction vehicles at customer sites.
  • Own fleet reliability and act as the first line of triage and issue resolution for customer-site issues.
  • Provide vehicle integration support by designing, prototyping, and installing proof-of-concept systems and sensors.
  • Lead vehicles through buildout, delivery, final bring-up, and shakedown testing.
  • Design and build test benches to validate mechanical, electrical, embedded, and software systems.
  • Develop and maintain vehicle integration documentation and detailed assembly procedures.
  • Troubleshoot vehicle systems, computer components, and sensors, including root cause analysis.
  • Minimize vehicle downtime while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
  • Work independently on complex, dynamically evolving challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of technical experience in mechanical, electrical, computer, mining, or construction industries.
  • Experience with autonomous-vehicle components, including LiDAR, radar, and cameras.
  • Previous experience with low-volume manufacturing in the off-road industry.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and datasheets.
  • Experience documenting and maintaining detailed assembly procedures.
  • Experience using shop equipment, 3D printers, and automotive diagnostic tools.
  • Experience with CNC, machining, metalworking, and welding.
  • Experience with automotive repair and maintenance.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with CAD or SolidWorks design processes.
  • Familiarity with Python or other programming languages.
  • Familiarity with ROS and Linux.
  • Familiarity with programming microcontrollers and microprocessors.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Eligible compensation includes base salary, equity, and benefits.
  • Benefits may include health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off.
  • The ATS-listed base salary range is $90,000–$140,000 USD.
