Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive prospective reviews of medical records to validate the accuracy and completeness of ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding, CPT procedure coding, and supporting clinical documentation.
Identify documentation gaps and risk adjustment coding opportunities to support accurate capture of patient complexity and disease burden.
Provide timely feedback to providers on documentation gaps and coding opportunities identified through chart reviews.
Educate providers on documentation best practices and risk adjustment requirements.
Identify and communicate documentation trends to support ongoing improvement.
Maintain compliance with applicable coding, documentation, and risk adjustment guidelines.
Stay current on regulatory and industry changes affecting coding and documentation practices.
Support coding quality reviews and audit activities as needed.
Requirements
CPC certification.
Experience with risk adjustment coding and clinical documentation improvement (CDI).
Strong organization and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
Effective listening, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity and changing priorities.
Ability to learn and use new technologies.
Must be located within the lower 48 United States due to contractual limitations related to accessing PHI.
Nice to Have
Oncology coding experience.
CRC or CDEO certification.
Experience with video chat, Google Suite, Slack, or electronic health records.
Compensation and Benefits
Non-exempt, part-time position.
Pay rate: $41.50/hour.
