About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive prospective reviews of medical records to validate the accuracy and completeness of ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding, CPT procedure coding, and supporting clinical documentation.
  • Identify documentation gaps and risk adjustment coding opportunities to support accurate capture of patient complexity and disease burden.
  • Provide timely feedback to providers on documentation gaps and coding opportunities identified through chart reviews.
  • Educate providers on documentation best practices and risk adjustment requirements.
  • Identify and communicate documentation trends to support ongoing improvement.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable coding, documentation, and risk adjustment guidelines.
  • Stay current on regulatory and industry changes affecting coding and documentation practices.
  • Support coding quality reviews and audit activities as needed.

Requirements

  • CPC certification.
  • Experience with risk adjustment coding and clinical documentation improvement (CDI).
  • Strong organization and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Effective listening, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity and changing priorities.
  • Ability to learn and use new technologies.
  • Must be located within the lower 48 United States due to contractual limitations related to accessing PHI.

Nice to Have

  • Oncology coding experience.
  • CRC or CDEO certification.
  • Experience with video chat, Google Suite, Slack, or electronic health records.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Non-exempt, part-time position.
  • Pay rate: $41.50/hour.
