Data Analyst

What You'll Do

• Drive Operational Excellence: Proactively identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in our processes. Serve as the bridge between raw data and business strategy, transforming complex datasets into actionable insights and operational improvements that drive the business forward.
• Build Scalable Analytics: Design, implement, and maintain tracking systems and dashboards that automate manual reporting. Ensure stakeholders have self-serve access to the metrics that matter most.
• Curate the Data Layer: Collaborate with engineering to maintain clean, reliable data models. Help refine our SQL transformations to ensure our data infrastructure scales with our growth.
• Synthesize & Communicate: Translate technical findings into clear, concise recommendations for non-technical audiences. Tell the story behind the data, helping leadership understand why trends are happening and what to do about them.
• Wrangle Complex Data: Perform detailed work with structured and semi-structured data (including nested JSON) to extract relevant signals from the noise.

What You Bring

• 3+ Years of Experience in data analytics at a tech company, marketplace, or product-led startup where data directly informed product or business decisions.
• Business Impact Orientation: Measure the success of your work by the business outcome it produced — not by what you built. Lead with the "so what" before the methodology and can speak fluently to the impact of your work without being prompted.
• Advanced SQL & Snowflake: Expert at writing efficient, complex queries to extract and manipulate data from cloud data warehouses like Snowflake.
• BI & Dashboarding: Strong experience designing interactive dashboards and reports. Familiarity with Hex (or similar notebook-based BI tools) is highly preferred. Experience with Looker, Tableau, or Metabase is also valuable.
• Data Wrangling Expertise: Comfortable working with messy, real-world data, including parsing nested JSON and cleaning unstructured datasets.
• Analytical Mindset: Analyze data to find the root cause of business problems.
• Strong Communication: Explain complex data concepts to product managers, operations teams, and executives alike.
• Startup DNA: Comfortable with ambiguity, ready to adapt to shifting priorities, and willing to jump in and support the team wherever needed. Understand the difference between a perfect answer in three months and a good enough answer today — and default to the latter.

Bonus Points

• dbt (Highly Preferred): Familiarity with dbt is highly preferred — manage your own transformations and contribute to our core data models.
• Python/R: Experience using scripting languages for automation, advanced statistical analysis, or forecasting.
• Process Optimization: A background in operations, where you have successfully used data to streamline workflows and reduce manual overhead.
