Leads enterprise data engineering strategy, architecture, delivery, governance, and technical leadership across the organization. Requires extensive data engineering experience, advanced data modeling and warehouse expertise, and strong PySpark, SQL, and Python skills.

Responsibilities
- Define the long-term data engineering strategy in alignment with company priorities and engineering best practices.
- Design coherent data ecosystems across pipelines and API boundaries, simplifying infrastructure and reducing maintenance costs.
- Make high-impact technical decisions, including build-versus-buy and framework selections, and review designs to identify and resolve technical risks.
- Improve developer efficiency and establish engineering-wide quality and best practices.
- Deliver major features and systems reliably with monitoring, failure-domain characterization, and success metrics.
- Align team efforts with business goals and identify organization-wide opportunities.
- Enforce data governance, including PII/PHI protection, security, and compliance, and improve data quality and reliability.
- Influence cross-functional roadmaps and lead critical technical decisions.
- Mentor and coach engineers and communicate technical strategies and business cases to executives.
- Drive adoption of new technologies and processes across the organization.
Requirements
- 8+ years of industrial data engineering experience with an advanced degree, or 12+ years with an undergraduate degree.
- Advanced degree or undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, depending on experience path.
- Mastery of data modeling, database design, and data warehouse technologies such as Snowflake.
- Strong PySpark, SQL, and Python skills.
- Experience managing the full data lifecycle and developing, implementing, and releasing complex data processing solutions using distributed systems.
- Experience with production-grade data engineering implementations and organization-wide technical decision-making.
Nice to Have
- Startup or healthcare experience.
- Experience with C#, C++, Go, Java, or Scala.
- Experience with Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, dbt, Looker, or Superset.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $178,500–$252,000 USD, varying by work location, job level, knowledge, skills, and experience.
- Eligibility for bonuses, commissions, or equity may apply.
