IT Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary IT escalation point, reducing reliance on DevOps and engineering teams for routine IT requests.
• Own PC fleet management, including provisioning, imaging, Ansible-based configuration, and Teamviewer enrollment for internal and customer site machines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve GPU driver issues and kernel update problems causing production downtime at customer sites; build SOPs to eliminate tribal knowledge.
• Support internal IT requests including tool integrations, access management, onboarding/offboarding, and network configuration.
• Assist with government enclave maintenance, including compliance logging, access control, and coordination with enclave contractor.
• Own the IT intake process, including implementing a clear ticketing workflow.
• Work with DevOps on adjacent tasks such as CI runner uptime, VPN setup, DNS, and internal tooling deployments.
• Provide customer site IT support for activation machines, license servers, and network misconfigurations.
• Shadow and document existing systems, then take increasing ownership.
• Reduce reliance on external IT contractor for day-to-day tasks.
• Write documentation and SOPs.

Requirements

• 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in IT systems administration, infrastructure, or related technical role.
• Strong working knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu preferred).
• Networking fundamentals, including diagnosing and resolving common configuration issues.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible.
• Basic scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation.
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Ability to troubleshoot independently, communicate blockers clearly, and drive issues to resolution.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, Refugee, or Asylee (export control requirements).
• Comfortable working onsite at Carson, CA office with some travel to customer sites.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience supporting both internal employees and external production environments.
• Familiarity with MDM or RMM tools such as NinjaOne, JAMF, or Kandji.
• Exposure to AWS (storage, EC2, IAM basics).
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as CMMC, NIST 800-171, or ITAR in enclave/government contexts.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK.
• Track record of writing clear documentation and SOPs.
