About the role

Responsibilities

  • Implement and operate Mercury’s first prudential regulatory compliance program for banking, initially focusing on Regulations W and O.
  • Establish policies, procedures, governance frameworks, transactional controls, and ongoing monitoring activities.
  • Advise senior management on the permissibility and advisability of proposed transactions.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Legal, Finance, People/HR, Credit, and other functions.
  • Help shape business-critical transactions to ensure they are conducted safely and soundly.
  • Provide training and guidance to bank staff on prudential regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain records and documentation for prudential regulatory compliance activities and programs.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of experience building and/or operating prudential compliance programs, including Regulations W and O.
  • Strong understanding of prudential regulations and regulatory expectations.
  • Experience presenting program outputs and decisions to senior executives, internal auditors, prudential regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • High quality bar, strong ownership, and ability to see initiatives through to completion.
  • Collaborative, problem-solving mindset with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Interest in using technology, including artificial intelligence, to enhance compliance capabilities.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Prior experience in quantitative fields such as finance, credit, or strategic operations.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Total rewards include base salary, equity through stock options or RSUs, and benefits.
  • Target new-hire base salary ranges:
    • US employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $163,000–$203,800
    • US employees outside of New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $146,700–$183,400
    • Canadian employees, any location: CAD 154,100–192,600
  • Offers are based on experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity.
