Software Engineer, Internship - Defense Tech

Core Responsibilities

• Support work specifically focusing on delivering Palantir Defense capabilities to critical mission partners.
• Involved throughout the product lifecycle from idea generation, design, and prototyping to execution and shipping.
• Collaborate closely with technical and non-technical counterparts to understand customers' problems and build products that tackle them.
• Build high-quality code directly to Palantir's Gotham product.
• Work on small teams focusing on specific aspects of a product, such as geospatial mapping tools or Gotham release infrastructure.
• Share context, skills, and experience across teams.

• Collaboration: Work with Software Engineers, Product Managers, Designers, Product Reliability Engineers, Forward Deployed Engineers, and Deployment Strategists.

Technologies We Use

• Varying languages including Java and Go for backend, TypeScript for frontend.
• Open-source technologies: Cassandra, Spark, Elasticsearch, React, Redux.
• Build tooling: Gradle, GitHub.

• Willingness to learn and make decisions independently, and ask questions when needed.

What We Require

• Engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics or related fields.
• Familiarity with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other technical tools.
• Active US Security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain one prior to start of internship.
• Experience coding in languages such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, or similar.
• Must be planning on graduating in 2028 (final internship before graduating).
