Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain reliable backend services and APIs supporting Cash Line and the broader borrower journey.
- Develop systems for offer generation, pricing, underwriting, funding, and account management.
- Integrate backend capabilities with borrower-facing applications and partner systems as needed.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver features that improve borrower flows.
- Write tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.
- Improve performance, scalability, reliability, and observability; diagnose and resolve issues across environments.
- Support experimentation and iterative improvements using data and customer feedback.
- Occasionally travel for team onsites and company gatherings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency building backend services and APIs with a language such as Python, Java, Kotlin, Ruby, or Node.js.
- Experience with REST or GraphQL APIs, data models, and distributed systems or service-oriented architectures.
- Strong fundamentals in tested, maintainable code and team-based code review.
- Ability to work with product and design partners from requirements through production.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience building scalable, reliable systems for consumer-facing products with complex user journeys.
- Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD workflows, observability, and modern software development practices.
- Exposure to fintech, lending, payments, or regulated financial products.
- Experience with experimentation, A/B testing, or feature flagging in production.
- Active use of AI tools in engineering workflows.
Compensation & Benefits
- United States base salary range: $142,000–$196,600 USD.
- Canada base salary range: $136,000–$184,800 CAD.
