About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead a full-stack engineering team comprising backend and mobile engineers.
  • Act as a product-minded player-coach, balancing team management with hands-on technical contributions to build and iterate on early-stage products.
  • Embed AI-native practices into planning, prioritization, execution, and engineering quality evaluation.
  • Optimize workflows through AI automation while maintaining disciplined engineering practices.
  • Coach and mentor engineers on effective AI usage.
  • Own the team performance-management lifecycle, including expectations, feedback, calibration, leveling, and development planning.
  • Partner with product and cross-functional teams to translate ambiguous business goals into technical roadmaps.
  • Drive architecture and implementation of new features, breaking down complex problems and delivering scalable, high-quality code.
  • Recruit and develop an engineering team and foster technical excellence and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership in an individual contributor or engineering management capacity.
  • Ability to contribute to architecture and write clean, scalable code while mentoring others.
  • Experience working with cross-functional partners, including product managers, analysts, and mobile and backend engineers.
  • Experience leading teams that produce high-quality output on critical infrastructure.
  • Hands-on fluency with AI-native engineering workflows and tools such as Cursor and Claude.
  • Strong judgment in using AI for planning, coding, triage, and technical decision support.
  • Creative, tenacious problem-solving ability and a get-it-done attitude.
  • Ability to foster a positive, healthy, and challenging team environment.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary: $266,000–$326,000.
  • Equity and benefits included.
  • Hybrid position requiring in-office work two days per week in Mountain View.
