About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Ramp’s tax products, including tax infrastructure and customer-facing calculation, reporting, and filing experiences.
  • Build tax automation across Cards, Bill Pay, Banking, and other financial workflows for domestic and international customers.
  • Expand Stack, Ramp’s agentic accounting product, into tax by automating CPA workflows such as data collection, workpaper preparation, review, filing, and client follow-up.
  • Translate manual workflows for finance teams, tax leaders, accountants, and CPAs into focused product initiatives.
  • Partner with engineering and data science to ship reliable AI systems with evaluation methods, quality metrics, feedback loops, fallbacks, and human-in-the-loop controls.
  • Design trusted experiences for a regulated domain through explainability, auditability, source traceability, graceful degradation, and clear user controls.
  • Translate changing tax rules into scalable product, data, and platform capabilities supporting new geographies, entities, and product lines.
  • Lead execution with engineers and designers, balancing product judgment, customer evidence, data, and rapid iteration.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment and launch readiness with Finance, Legal, Security, CX, Sales, compliance, communications, and support teams.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in a technical or analytical field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of product management or adjacent product-building experience.
  • Strong domain expertise in tax, accounting, or finance, including practical knowledge of how businesses or accounting firms calculate, review, report, and file taxes.
  • Strong product judgment and first-principles thinking across complex workflows, data products, integrations, and decision-driving user experiences.
  • Hands-on AI feature, prototype, or side-project experience, with understanding of evaluation, retrieval, latency, cost, safety, and accuracy tradeoffs.
  • Experience building trusted products with explainability, auditability, graceful degradation, and clear human controls.
  • Comfort collaborating in technical environments such as Figma and Git and using modern prototyping tools such as Claude Code and Cursor.
  • Fluency with experimentation and product metrics.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, set direction, make tradeoffs, and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience building tax calculation, compliance, reporting, or filing products.
  • Familiarity with sales and use tax, VAT/GST, or 1099 filing.
  • Experience building production AI products, including LLM workflows, agents, evaluation systems, or document understanding.
  • Experience with financial products, payments, accounting software, ERPs, or data integrations supporting tax workflows.
  • Experience working with CPA firms, tax practices, or finance teams during tax preparation and filing cycles.
  • Experience taking complex 0-to-1 products from concept to scaled adoption at a high-growth startup.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary range of $230,000–$325,000.
