Responsibilities
Lead OpenAI’s employer brand strategy across the full range of talent audiences, anchored in its identity as a frontier research lab.
Build a distinctive “why OpenAI / why now” narrative connecting culture, technical ambition, and impact to credible stories.
Use candidate, employee, recruiter, and market insights to refine audience priorities, positioning, content, and candidate experience.
Create and lead a scalable content and enablement system spanning the careers site, employee stories, job descriptions, outreach, events, closing materials, and guidance for recruiters and leaders.
Ensure the external brand promise is consistent throughout the candidate journey, from first impression through onboarding.
Measure brand perception, audience engagement, candidate understanding and experience, and recruiting impact.
Build an AI-native operating model across Recruiting, Communications, Marketing, Brand, Recruiting Operations, Legal, and external partners, with clear decision rights and quality standards.
Requirements
7+ years of experience in employer branding, talent marketing, research communications, recruitment marketing, brand strategy, or a closely related field.
Experience across high-growth startups and larger, established organizations.
High agency, strong judgment, bias toward action, and ability to work without an established playbook.
Experience building an employer brand capability from the ground up and translating strategy into durable systems, content, and operating practices.
Ability to build trust with technical leaders, ask technically informed questions, and preserve nuance while making work accessible.
Exceptional writing and editing skills, including translating technical work into accurate, credible, compelling narratives.
Experience using research and data to define audiences, identify perception gaps, prioritize investments, and measure recruiting impact.
Track record of influencing senior technical stakeholders.
Sound judgment in high-stakes, high-scrutiny environments where accuracy, approvals, and discretion matter.
Experience leading external agencies or creative partners from brief through delivery.
AI-native mindset, with active use of AI tools and sound judgment about human accountability.
Strategic partner to executives crafting speeches, emails, and presentations to communicate company vision, manage change, and engage teams in a high-growth AI company. Requires 7+ years experience and world-class writing skills.
