Product Designer

What You’ll Do

Within 1 Month:

• Build a strong working understanding of Clutch's lending products, the borrower and operator journeys, and the compliance and legacy-system realities.
• Establish relationships and credibility with product managers, engineers, and credit union partners.
• Ramp on Clutch's AI design tooling and practices, using AI to prototype and explore from week one.

Within 3 Months:

• Own a significant area end to end: Take a large, loosely-defined design project from discovery through delivery.
• Lead design on a substantial piece of the loan-application experience.
• Use AI to create working prototypes, and ship simpler production changes in partnership with engineering.
• Run interviews, concept tests, and usability sessions to validate decisions.

Within 6 Months:

• Map full workflows and design reusable, scalable patterns.
• Lead design end to end for a core part of the lending journey.
• Bring research and data into roadmap and prioritization conversations.
• Drive design critique, share learnings about AI-assisted workflows, and improve process and documentation.
• Partner closely with PMs and engineers as a true thought partner.

What You’ll Bring

• 6-8 years as a product designer, with experience in fintech, SaaS, or complex, workflow-heavy environments.
• Genuine excitement about AI in design; experience using AI to prototype, design, and ship simpler features.
• Strong service and systems design skills across end-to-end processes involving multiple user types, handoffs, and edge cases.
• Excellent visual and interaction design skills for clear, elegant solutions to multi-step, data-heavy experiences.
• Skilled at user research and advocating for user needs in roadmap conversations.
• Strong partnership judgment with PMs and engineers; knows when to work autonomously.
• Ability to own large, ambiguous projects end to end.
• Excellent storytelling, documentation, and presentation skills.
• Comfort working inside regulated workflows, legacy tooling, and real-world constraints.
• Elevates the team through critique, mentorship, and process improvements.
