The Senior Software Engineer will lead backend engineering work for Lyft’s Marketplace, building AI-driven analytics platforms, data pipelines, and metric governance systems. - Define the roadmap and architecture based on technology and business needs.
- Drive AI innovation for business analytics and operations.
- Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, and maintainable code.
- Explain tradeoffs made in technical decisions.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge.
- Lead projects from ideation through successful execution.
- Incorporate business context and failure modes into technical work.
- Proactively help resolve ongoing incidents.
- Unblock, support, communicate effectively, and obtain buy-in across teams.
- Share knowledge through brown bags, tech talks, and engineering best-practice evangelism.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering industry experience with a high-level programming language.
- Experience with AI agentic workflows, model evaluation, causal models, and anomaly detection.
- Ability to learn quickly and make progress on poorly defined or unfamiliar problems.
- Strong communication and advocacy skills, with empathy for teammates’ goals and priorities.
- Experience defining API schemas and developing backend services in a microservices environment.
- History of helping fellow engineers improve their productivity.
