Engineering Manager, Tax Platform

What you’ll do

• Work with a team of talented engineers and product managers to drive growth, solve user problems, and deliver operational excellence.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across disciplines, time zones, and across the company to achieve the best outcomes for our users.
• Build the plans, rhythm, and support for your team to deliver its best work.
• Contribute to the broader Tax Engineering organization through technical leadership, process and tooling improvements.
• Lead, coach, retain, and recruit engineers on the team.
• Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering management team.

Who you are

Minimum requirements

• Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, plus ten (10) years of experience in Software Engineering, of which, at least 5 years must be post bachelor's progressive experience.
• Must have five (5) years of experience with/in:
  • Managing, building and leading engineering teams delivering software products;
  • Applying hands-on technical expertise at scale to guide architecture and technical strategy resolutions in collaboration with staff engineers;
  • Designing, delivering, and operating business critical services at scale;
  • User-facing product, front-end and back-end services, scaling database systems, and API design on a team of 4-8 engineers;
  • Designing and building services in monolithic and multi service architectures; and
  • Devops and operational ownership, from standing up observability posture through managing and iterating on operational rigor and on call health.

Salary: $274,456 - $321,800/yr (base salary range; commissions/bonuses, if applicable, in addition). Additional benefits may include equity, company bonus, 401(k) plan, medical/dental/vision benefits, and wellness stipends.
