Own and evolve Firecrawl’s open-source repositories, maintaining the core self-hosting experience and building new context primitives such as a document parsing engine. The role requires 5+ years of experience, a substantial open-source track record, and strong software engineering judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the main Firecrawl repository end to end, including issue triage, pull request reviews, releases, and documentation.
  • Maintain an easy-to-use self-hosting experience.
  • Build new context primitives, beginning with the anydoc document parsing engine.
  • Define scope and API designs for open-source primitives.
  • Improve project adoption and organic growth through engineering and product decisions.
  • Ship code and review pull requests weekly.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated open-source track record, such as maintaining a popular repository or making significant contributions.
  • Experience owning a repository end to end, from issue triage and pull request review through releases and documentation.
  • Experience building parsers, crawlers, browser tooling, or developer libraries.
  • Strong judgment about API design, project scope, and maintainability.
  • Understanding of how open-source projects drive adoption.
  • High agency and ability to make independent decisions about scope and merges.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is unavailable.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $235,000–$260,000 per year.
