Staff Software Engineer
Lead full-stack development on Hover's Core UX team, building scalable customer experiences with Ruby on Rails, React, and React Native to solve complex property workflows.
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery and execution on ambiguous customer problems, partnering with product and design to shape solutions from concept through launch
- Build and scale customer-facing applications across the full stack using Ruby on Rails, React, and React Native
- Improve onboarding, collaboration workflows, measurement display systems, and 3D model outputs
- Design and implement scalable APIs and distributed systems with focus on reliability and asynchronous processing
- Mentor engineers and raise engineering quality and culture standards
Requirements
- 8+ years building and scaling customer-facing applications with deep expertise in React and Ruby on Rails
- Strong experience with scalable APIs, distributed systems, reliability, and cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP preferred)
- Experience or strong interest in React Native for production mobile apps
- Track record leading complex initiatives from ambiguous problem spaces through technical design and production launch
- Strong product judgment balancing speed, scalability, quality, and customer impact
- Experience partnering with product, design, and data teams
- Ownership mindset with mentoring experience

- Experience building internal tooling, shared systems, or platform capabilities
- Background with 3D data, spatial systems, or geometry processing
- Experience in construction, field services, or skilled trades industries
