About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement design-for-reliability best practices.
  • Conduct stress screening, environmental testing (temperature cycling, vibration, HALT, HASS), and failure analysis.
  • Analyze designs and test results to identify failure modes and mitigations.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to implement reliability practices early.
  • Participate in design reviews, FMEA, and approve designs for release.
  • Investigate manufacturing non-conformances and field failures for root cause.
  • Travel to supplier processes for deep dives.
  • Develop corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Use reliability modeling and simulation tools to predict performance and lifespan.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical background in materials science, electronics manufacturing (PCB fabrication and assembly), hardware reliability, environmental testing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering (preferred), Mechanical, or Reliability Engineering.
  • Familiarity with electronics (PCBs, PCBAs, components) and moving mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary teams from concept to production.
  • Project management of technical projects.
  • Proficiency in Python, NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Plotly, Matplotlib.
  • Familiarity with IPC, JEDEC, AIAA, AEC, MIL, SMC standards.
  • Self-starting with growth mindset, problem-solving, attention to detail, communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Materials Engineering (preferred), Mechanical, or Reliability Engineering.
  • 3+ years in hardware reliability engineering (aerospace/automotive focus).
  • Proficiency in failure analysis and materials characterization.
  • Experience with PCB fabrication, SMT, polymerics manufacturing.
