Software Engineering Manager III - Growth
Lead a team of Growth Engineers optimizing in-app user experience and key growth metrics. Drive experimentation at scale, manage direct reports, and report to the VP of Data.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the design, prioritization, and implementation of experiments to improve key growth metrics
- Manage three or more direct reports, setting performance expectations, differentiating talent, addressing underperformance, and amplifying contributions
- Serve as escalation point for complex cross-team issues and make high-judgment decisions grounded in long-term strategy
- Drive experiment velocity and quality at scale by defining structure, milestones, and success criteria
- Lead cross-department projects by aligning groups around shared goals and adjusting leadership approach based on context
- Demonstrate strong hiring judgment to build a team capable of sustained performance
- Monitor and report on KPIs related to user growth, providing updates to senior leadership
- Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights to drive continuous improvement
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools for real-time visibility into growth metrics
- Coach team members toward stronger innovation and promote test-and-iterate approaches
- Stay current with industry trends and contribute insights to company strategy
- Communicate results and recommendations clearly to senior leadership, cross-functional partners, and technical teams
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience directly managing software engineers
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Economics, Business, or relevant experience
- Proven experience in growth engineering or related role with focus on mobile app growth and engagement
- Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software development or mobile app development
- Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams with track record of successful project delivery and talent development
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to make data-driven decisions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate across teams
- Experience with A/B testing, experimentation, and data analysis tools
- Knowledge of industry trends and best practices related to mobile app growth and user retention
- Experience leading end-to-end projects with cross-functional scope
