Software Engineer, Codex Cloud

In this role, you will:

• Shape the evolution of Codex by identifying usage patterns and driving changes across product, infrastructure, and model behavior.
• Design end-to-end software engineering experiences for consumer and enterprise to automate and empower engineers.
• Build core primitives for scale: container orchestration, VM provisioning, sandboxes, storage, RBAC, audit surfaces, rate limits, analytics.
• Design secure, observable full-stack systems integrating with enterprise identity (SSO/SAML/OIDC, SCIM) across web, IDEs, CLI, CI/CD.
• Lead deployments with customers and GTM, iterating on real-world feedback.

• Have strong software engineering fundamentals and experience with production-grade large-scale distributed systems.
• Use AI-powered/agentic software development tools and know their strengths/weaknesses.
• Have experience with orchestration of scaled containerization/virtualization (e.g. Kubernetes, OCI).
• Are proficient in backend languages (Python, Go, Rust) and concurrency/distributed systems, focusing on reliability, observability, security.
• Enjoy building cross-cutting platform capabilities across services, APIs, and products.
• Have experience with enterprise foundations: identity/access (SAML/OIDC), SCIM, RBAC, audit/compliance, policy enforcement.
• Have built developer tools (CLI/IDE/SDK), automation, or integration platforms.
• Like working with users/customers and translating requirements into scalable implementations.
• Enjoy 0→1 environments and navigating ambiguity with product thinking.
