Summary

Create visual assets, environments, and storyboards for interactive security awareness training simulations. Lead visual development of game-like learning experiences that teach cybersecurity skills through engaging, hands-on play.

About the role

Responsibilities

Educational Game Experience Design

  • Translate educational curriculum and learning objectives into playable game mechanics and risk/reward systems
  • Define the moment-to-moment feel, pacing, reward systems, and difficulty curves to keep students engaged without sacrificing educational rigor
  • Contribute to playtesting by identifying usability friction, confusing feedback, and visual clarity issues for implementable design improvements
  • Define engagement metrics, retention rates, and learning outcomes to evaluate the game's effectiveness after launch

Illustration

  • Support simulation and episode production by creating production-ready visual assets for interactive training content, including characters, props, environments, UI elements, icons, and in-world objects
  • Translate creative briefs, learning goals, and product requirements into clear visual concepts, storyboards, layouts, and production assets
  • Partner with product managers, security researchers, writers, product designers, animators, and creative leads to shape experiences that balance fun, clarity, and instructional value
  • Own asset workstreams from concept to handoff, keeping files organized, reusable, and easy for cross-functional teammates to implement
  • Help establish and maintain visual systems, patterns, and documentation that create consistency across episodes, simulations, and future interactive formats
  • Identify opportunities to improve production quality and team velocity through better asset planning, reusable templates, and ethical AI-assisted concepting workflows

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in game design or educational technology, interactive media, illustration, animation, or adjacent visual design roles, with a portfolio that shows shipped or production-ready work
  • Experience creating art for online-based interactive games, simulations, e-learning, or other systems where visuals need to support user actions and state changes
  • Strong illustration and asset-production skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with the ability to create polished, scalable assets in an established style
  • Ability to take loosely defined ideas and turn them into production-ready concepts, layouts, and asset libraries with minimal oversight
  • A strong eye for visual consistency, readability, hierarchy, and environmental storytelling across characters, worlds, and interfaces
  • Comfort working cross-functionally in a fast-moving, iterative environment and contributing thoughtful feedback that improves the final experience

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with storyboarding, scene planning, or pre-visualization for interactive or animated content
  • Familiarity with game design principles such as feedback loops, player guidance, challenge framing, reward moments, and moment-to-moment visual clarity
  • Experience with After Effects, motion workflows, or handoff to animation
  • Experience using AI-assisted creative tools responsibly for early ideation, variation, or background development
  • An online portfolio is required for this position

Compensation & Benefits
