Build is seeking a talented individual contributor to own the client-facing product experience, bridging AI capabilities with user interfaces and services. This role involves end-to-end product ownership, from defining and designing to building and directing engineering efforts, with a focus on growth and quality.

We're looking for someone who thinks about product beyond traditional definitions. Someone who can navigate design, engineering, architecture and systems with ease. The ideal fit for this role is an extremely talented IC who sees themselves as a future CPO or CPTO with high executive function.

Sitting at the center of the company with the CEO, you will own everything that touches the customer - the interface between Build's AI capabilities and the people and institutions we work with. That means the brand we are developing, the services we develop, the interfaces we ship, the way outputs are delivered, the experience of being a Build client from first contact to deep deployment.

You'll also work directly the engineering and domain teams. There's no layer between you and the thing being built.

What you'll do

  • Take Build's brand foundations and amplify them to world class
  • Define and own the product implementation for Build's client-facing surfaces - from workflow design to output delivery to the Workflow Builder platform
  • Translate complex agentic AI capabilities into interfaces and experiences that are used internally through to the world's largest institutions
  • Work end-to-end: identify what needs to exist, design how it should work, and build or direct the engineering to make it real
  • Partner with domain leads to turn expert knowledge into repeatable, scalable workflows - from development, to acquisitions and financing, to design
  • Own the quality bar for everything a client sees, touches, or receives
  • Be the voice of the user inside the engineering team and the voice of the engineer inside client conversations
  • Identify the gaps between what we do and what clients believe we do - and close them

What we're looking for

  • Proficiency in design and engineering - you can prototype fast and write a pull request.
  • Strong spatial and systems thinking. You see how the pieces relate before anyone asks you to
  • Experience building products that non-technical users rely on for high-stakes decisions
  • Comfort with ambiguity - this role doesn't have a clear playbook yet, and that's the point
  • Strong communication skills. You can achieve great things because your bar is so high and you have the charm to convince people to reach it
  • You operate for growth. You design, engineer, convince and cajole around growth because achieving scale is the only way you can make your dreams come true

Background

There's no single profile we're hiring from. The person we want might come from:

  • Architecture or the built environment - you understand what our clients do and why the problem Build is solving is hard
  • Enterprise services or technical consulting - you understand what it takes to create a generationally impactful services firm because you worked in one
  • A founding role or previous founder - you've had to be the designer, the PM, and the engineer because there was nobody else
